LaTrobe
University was founded in 1964 and is a large teaching and
research university. It has approximately 25,000 students, including
1,500 international students from 60 different countries. An academic
and administrative staff of 4,000 service the educational needs of
its student population. Undergraduate and post graduate programs are
available in Art and Social Sciences, Business, Education, Engineering,
Health Sciences, and Sciences and Technology.
Swinburne Institute of Technology
was established in 1908 as the Eastern Suburbs Technical College.
Swinburne is host to more than 15,000 students with over 10% from
overseas. The Victorian government proclaimed it as a University in
1992 and has supported its efforts to increase its international status.
The university offers bachelor through to PhD degree courses. Foundation
Year is a pre-tertiary year for students who are not eligible for
direct entry into a degree program. Course work masters degrees are
available in Computing Science, Business Computing, BioMedical Instrumental,
Organisational Behaviour, Business Administration, Computer Integrated
Manufacturing, Mass Communication and International Business. In addition,
there are a number of one year graduate diploma in a variety of disciplines
in each division.
Victoria University is
recognised as one of Australia's most innovative and culturally diverse
institutions of higher education, technical and further education.
Situated on six campuses, 90 nationalities are represented in the
13,000 students and 120 staff, providing the greatest international
mix found at any Australian university. More than 500 international
students are currently participating in university programs and a
further 1,200 international students study off-shore.
Victoria University has five faculties which provide courses in higher
education from Associate Diploma through to PhD. Arts, Business: Accounting,
Banking and Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Computers
and Information Technology, Engineering, Sports Sciences, Health Sciences,
Science, Environmental Management.
Deakin University was awarded Australian
University of the Year 1995, and is a large and diverse institution
offering a range of innovative courses to students wishing to fulfill
their career and personal ambitions. The university is a leader in
developing specific courses to meet national and international challenges.
